Hiding Under a Smile

The music will not play anymore,
Without music all there is, is doubt.
No way to ignore what's going on,
No way to shut everything out.

On the outside she is happy,
But her smile is not real.
On the inside she is dying,
But she hides the pain she feels.

She forces a smile each day of her life, but still her eyes show her inner sadness.
She puts on a laugh, but still she fades into the blackness.

At night she is not sleeping,
She is unable to close her eyes.
For her eyes are full of salty water,
That waterfalls as she cries.

On the outside she is joyful,
But it is just a mask.
To blend into the growing crowd,
It is not a difficult task.

She forces a smile each day of her life, just to get around.
She sees the sky, but still she's getting pulled underground.

It's not easy being different,
It's hard to get around.
She's always teased and tormented,
Bullied and put down.

She's too scared to tell her parents,
For she knows they will not care.
She hides under her hidden mask,
The smile she wears everywhere.

She forces a smile each day of her life, to hide her sadness, pain and fear.
She sees the sun above, but it is cloudy under her tears.
